Guidelines for Submitting Abstracts for AGD2018 in New Orleans

This year we are accepting submissions for 2 different formats.

  • Dental Pearls from our Fellows and Masters:  These are 10-15 minute case study presentations, followed by 3-5 minutes of Q&A after each presentation. Ideally, presentations will be case studies and/or interesting cases that have been well-documented and have relevant educational benefit to listeners. All disciplines of dentistry will be accepted.  There will be a maximum of 9 presentations included in each 3-hour session, so there will be a moderator assigned to introduce all speakers, and facilitate the Q&A portion, keeping all segments to their assigned time.  All presentations, including any videos, will be pre-loaded onto the presentation laptop being used for this session, and bring a copy on a flash drive to the session as a back-up.  There will be an AV person there prior to the start of the course to help get all presentations ready on screen prior to the start of the course.

  • 50-minute Symposium-Style Lectures:  These are 50-minute lectures on clinical topics in any discipline or other unique and interesting topics relevant to the practice of dentistry, presented in a symposium-style format. Ideally these will incorporate the underlying theme of the meeting "Materials" or "Bio-Materials", but can be on any topic relating to dentistry.  Each presentation must be 50 minutes in length (including time for Q&A) and should focus on current issues with immediate relevance and importance to the field of dentistry, including current best practices, emerging technologies and techniques or successful cases and addressing/avoiding failures. All presentations must be educational in nature and not a sales pitch, including product or company promotion.  All presentations must include a description and at least 3 learning objectives which attendees can expect to gain after your presentation.  All presentations, including any videos, will be pre-loaded onto the presentation laptop being used for this session, and bring a copy on a flash drive to the session as a back-up.

  • Speakers must present in an educational, non-commercial, non-self-promotional manner. Absolutely NO sales pitches are allowed during presentations or inside any session rooms.

  • If selected, you will be required to submit your final presentation (PowerPoint or compatible format) and any handouts (optional) to the AGD no later that May 31st. Please do not submit multiple versions of your presentation; submit the final version of your presentation only.   Final presentations should include photos and/or video clips documenting any discussed cases. All presentations, including any videos, will be pre-loaded onto the presentation laptop being used for this session, and there will be a course manager to help get your content ready on screen prior to your introduction.

  • All submissions will be reviewed by the Scientific Meeting Council (SMC).  Incomplete proposals will not be accepted. Formal notification of selection will occur after the SMC has reviewed all submissions.
